I finally got a chance to see Otto; or Up With Dead People, the latest Bruce LaBruce film which had its New York premiere at MoMA on Monday. I’ve been excited about this for the last year ever since it premiered at Sundance. In case you forgot, here’s the awesome trailer all over again, with music by CocoRosie that uses a sample of a kitty meowing.
Honestly, it was pretty much everything I was hoping for. My only criticism is that I think there should have been more explicit sex and gore. Considering the incredibly hot sex scenes in Raspberry Reich, I was expecting to see some actual cum shots. But it’s exactly what it’s been described as, a melancholy movie about a zombie with an identity crisis. Strangely, while I found the film to be more “mild” than “wild,” there’s been a myriad of reactions to the film because of it’s strong content. Read More!

Hey, guys, stop asking this very gay fellow if he’s actually gay. It’s so not cool. This problem is so serious, he even made a vlog:
Really? In my world camo hats and beards and pretty homosexual. Who are these strangers IMing him all the time asking if he’s really gay? Because all you crazy strangers with no gaydar whatsoever need to stop this nonsense.

Because I have a hobby for the obscure, I watched a little known Milos Forman movie this last weekend, Taking Off. His first American feature, it follows the story of two parents of a young girl, who runs away to be a hippy and go to this strange musical festival/audition that happens in a room with black walls. The plot mostly follows the parents and how they struggle and have their unique, own sort of “coming of age” experience after their daughters disappearance. But I’m not going to be talking about that part of the movie. I’m going to be talking about the women at this music festival/audition singing songs where the daughter runs off.
Logically, Kathy Bates was cast in one of her first roles in this movie: a cameo as a nameless folk singer?
I guess Kathy Bates had an earlier life where she tried to become a folk musician. She’s creditted in the movie as BoBo Bates. Does anyone know about this? I’m trying to picture Kathy Bates looking at herself in the mirror and coming up with her flower child name. Because in my head BoBo will forever be a clown name and have nothing to do with hippies and folk music. Maybe if I smoke more pot I’ll get it. Also, What has happened to this whole genre of music that involved strong emotive women with guitars? Miss those days so much, guys.

After eating a far too much filet mignon in a reduced cream and Gorgonzola sauce with home made onion rings (a current Ina Gartin recipe that proves that she’s out of her mind/ready to have a heart attack), Kyle and I went a little nuts from an overdose of fat. And then we made this video as a response to the original Pooh PSA I posted on Friday. Bothered by the lack of face time for pedophiles in the video, I stepped into the part.

The spectacular Gabe Liedman sent this video to me earlier today and I can’t stop forwarding it around.
Poo and Piglet are right. Why don’t I speak out more when I get touched? (secret answer: because it feels good and I like attention)
More importantly, do I even still have a concept of what a “bad touch” is? Lacking a proper therapist, I talked it out with my buddy Kyle who’s recently been blogging at the new version of Steeez.com.
Kyle: duude - the SONG THEY SING IN THIS THING?!?!?!?!!!!
me: YESSS
the SONG IS AMAZING
Kyle: holy fuck
me: also, the little kids showing how they yell out
Kyle: “DON’T TOUCH ME!!!!!!!!!!!!’
me: I KNOW
It made me wonder
like… when did I start being so ok with strangers putting their hands down my pants
like… when I’m at a gay bar
I don’t even flinch
and like, some dude can totally grab my ass or junk
and I just kind of lean into it
Kyle: aaaaaAAAAHHHHhahahahaha!
“that person touched me and it felt _wrong_”
me: Should I srsly start saying that to dudes? Hard to get is hot, right?

Cintra Wilson has made this great little PSA. It reminds me of how when I used to play Risk, I always said that my army was the empire of Caligula. The reason I always was defeated first was because of my hedonistic sodomite ways. We were just too busy drinking, butt fucking, and eating glass as an erotic act to give worry about fighting in wars. While I don’t exactly understand the rationale that somehow that would be the perfect revenge on Dubya, the video still rocks.

Do you guys know what MIX NYC is? You should, because otherwise you just missed it this last weekend, and you really missed out. It’s New York City’s gay and lesbian experimental film festival and there’s very few film festivals like it in the world. Stephen Kent Jusick, a long time friend of mine, really put together a great show this year. I got an opportunity to one of David Wojnarowicz’s rarely screened films, this one in collaboration Marion Scemama, called “Last night I took a man…” that features Wojnarowicz reading aloud a piece which can also be found in the collection of his work Close to The Knives. While that was part of the closing night event, “Actions of Outcast Bodies,” a collection of shorts curated as a tribute to the French artist Michel Journiac, I’m actually here to write about an artist I was introduced to during the screening for “Perspecticles,” a series of shorts curated by good friend Josh Thorson.
Have you guys heard of Ryan Trecartin? He makes video art, a medium I easily get frustrated with. After seeing his piece, “Wayne’s World 2003″, included in “Perspecticles,” I have to wonder how I have never seen these before. Also, I am wondering if they could be used as like a Rorschach test to diagnose schizophrenia, as in if you can understand these videos and like them, something very well may be wrong. Whoops, I’m totally bat shit schizophrenic! Read More!

Just because I like dick doesn’t mean I don’t know a thing or two about homosexual women. Sure, all we really share in common is mass persecution, but that doesn’t mean I can’t put my feelers out there. In fact, I’ve lived in Park Slope - one of the lezziest neighborhoods in New York and the United States - for three years! In my neighborhood, 3/4 of the guys I check out almost always turn out to be well-groomed dykes (to whom I tip my hat). We’re both into dogs, the outdoors, and lumberjack shirts, so - yeahhh - I think I can say a thing or two about the gals.
So let us raise a glass and salute some awesome ladies of ‘the L word’ variety. After the jump, my top five fave ladies who love ladies. Read More!

Do ya’ll watch sports? I don’t but I am thinking I might after seeing this. It’s Philadelphia Phillies’ Matt Stairs’ response to his incredible two-run hit. Did this happen last night? I sounds have turned off my porn and turned this on instead.
I couldn’t agree with you more. Who doesn’t love a good pounding? See you in the dugout.
